COMPLETE DESCRIPTION

Flamenco guitar crafted by the guitar maker Gerundino Fernández, born in Almeria in 1931; he is an example of a self-taught guitar builder and he was one of the most famed masters worldwide, with help from his brother Eladio Fernández. There are many artists who use or have used his guitars, among them Vicente Amigo, Tomatito, Joaquin Amador, Raimundo Amador, Paco Peña, etc.

It must be highlighted his First Prize and Prize for Best Acoustic on the International Competition of the Unesco for Guitar Makers Masters in Paris, 1988.

The selection of woods used for this instrument is: for the soundboard, German pine spruce of exceptional sound and grain of great quality; Cypress of stunning beauty and impressive features, almost impossible to find nowadays, is used for the body (sides and back). The woods were provided by his brother Eladio, who owned woods of unbeatable quality.

Thanks to the selection of woods Gerundino used on this instrument, its sound is completely extraordinary, offering exceptional depth and power on the bass strings and crystalline and clean trebles, as well as enviable balance and projection. The sound is typical and exclusive of Gerundino’s guitars and it is absolutely extraordinary.

Gerundino passed away in 2006.

The pulsation of this guitar is of medium tension with the strings at the perfect height for performance.

The guitar is in very good condition, it presents a graft on the soundboard and several cracks in the back, which have

been fully repaired. It has also been revarnished, respecting the original sound, without sanding or stabbing the wood.
