José Antonio Villalba

José Antonio Villalba Bernal was born in Cartagena, Spain, in 1969. He was a pupil of Jose Luís Romanillos Vega, participating in the construction course the master gave in Sigüenza in August 2007. He was also a student of Carlos Gonzálex between 2010 and 2013, going to his intensive courses in the Parador de las Hortichuelas, in Almeria, restoring a Jose Pernas’ guitar, making a copy of it and building a Baroque guitar. He attended the courses on acoustics given by Miguel Fernández in 2010 and 2011 integrated in the Antique Music Festival in Gijón.

He only builds handmade guitars with the highest quality materials and woods, most of them bought to former luthiers and with a minimum 10 years of stationing from their cutting up, up to woods more than 40 years old.
