Vicente Arias, born in Ciudad Real in 1833, is considered one of the most relevant makers of Spanish guitar in history. There is not much information about his life and, unfortunately, very few of his instruments have been preserved. However, His guitars emit some kind of charm and mysticism which is very well regarded by collectors and guitarists, in the same way cult objects are.
One of the things we do know is that, like Antonio de Torres, he was a carpenter before a maker. He probably started working as a luthier around 1860 and along his career he was awarded with several prizes and medals in Brussels, Madrid and Barcelona, due to the quality of his instruments.
The renowned guitarist Francisco Tárrega played one of his guitars for years.
