Juan Carmona, known in the flamenco world as Habichuela, wins El Taranto award for being recognized as the best accompanying guitarist of the twentieth century. The event will be held at the tablao Aljibes in Almería.
The friendship between the artist and the ‘peña’ dates back to 1977, when he played accompanying Fosforito.
In 1990 he was honored, together with Tomatito, with the Lucas López Award.
During the tribute, his son Juan Carmona will perform accompanied by the voice of El Granaino.
Juan Carmona Carmona comes from a flamenco dynasty started by his grandfather Habichuela El Viejo, and his brothers Luis, Carlos and Pepe are also renowned flamencos.
He also became the father of artists when in the late 80’s the band Ketama, formed by his sons Juan José Carmona Amaya and Antonio Carmona Amaya and his nephew José Miguel Carmona Niño, rose to fame. Ketama received a Latino Grammy.
